Design Process
This approach allows the input from an amazing team of experienced designers, goldsmiths, and gemologists, all focused on making your dream a reality. The process begins with a consultation with one of our designers. Our focus is on listening. What are your personal tastes? What is the occasion? What statement would you like to make? Our designers will then take those inspirations and turn them into several designs.
In our next consultation, we will review the scale sketches, watercolour renderings (done on translucent velum so that you can see the item on your hand) or CAD concepts and decide on the final design. From there, we will take your dream and turn it into reality.
1. Consult
On your first visit, we will talk about all the aspects of your potential creation, it’s purpose, style, construction, materials and gems. We’ll view our extensive collection of gems and metals and do sketches on the spot to clarify the design.
2. Gem Search
We search the world for the gemstones to complete your item! Through our extensive contacts in the gem world, we are able to source the best product for your perfect piece – beautiful, vibrant gemstones that meet the specifications of any design.
3. Finalize Design
When everything is in place, we will have a consultation where you view the scale drawings or CAD concepts of the designs and choose from the exquisite selection of stones we’ve collected just for you. It’s at this point in the process that we can fine tune the components and make this design uniquely yours.
4. Crafting
At Vandenbergs, we have the unique advantage of having three accomplished Master Goldsmiths with skills covering all forms of jewellery crafting, all done on site. Our goldsmiths take the materials we have selected and create your unique piece.
5. Presentation
Your satisfaction is our priority! Once your piece is complete, we invite you to inspect it, ensuring the craftsmanship meets your expectations. Each custom piece is carefully checked for quality, and we can arrange an appraisal upon request. Should any adjustments be needed due to unforeseen issues, we’re happy to ensure your piece is perfect.
